    Hello all-
I’ve taught for about 6 months out of my home, and things have been going very well. I will be venturing out into public space, but I am slightly worried about the liabilities, etc. that go along with that. What type of insurance do you have to cover you? Did you have to establish a sole proprietorship to get coverage? Did you file taxes separately (or at all?) I have spoken to my own insurance representative, but they really didn’t know what to tell me- they’d never encountered someone that would only need insurance coverage for a handful of hours every month!

Any information anyone could share would be helpful!
    Thanks–

I suggest that you file as an LLC in your state. I used State Farm for liability insurance under the advisement of Gigi Swenson. You may want to contact her of a good contact. Keep track of your expenses and revenues and file a tax form every year. You won’t pay taxes until you start making a profit. I hope that helps!
