Hello Teachers,
I am Susanne and teach French and German in Great Falls, MT. Of course
I am excited to try our new yahoo group and would like to get some
ideas from you at the same time. I am offering 45 minute classes for
children 0-4 years. This time I have an enrollment for a baby (3
months) for the first time. Do you charge the parents of babies the
same amount of money for the classes as toddlers? I am charging $120
for 10 weeks so far for everybody. Unfortunately the demand in Great
Falls is not big enough to offer an “infant only” class. How are you
handling this? I would be happy to hear from you.

My youngest so far has been 10 mo., but I just charged the regular
amount. I figure what they are getting is the music, stories, etc. to
take home like everyone else, so the benefit is essentially the same
in the long term. Siblings under one I don’t charge for because I
don’t provide the books and music for them.Glad to hear you are still teaching classes, how is enrollment? Why
do you do a 10 week session instead of 12? Just wondering for future
sessions.December 6, 2015 at 11:02 pm #99Posts from old Google groupParticipantI had a 7-month old and charged the regular fee for class since the
child was not a sibling. Otherwise, siblings under 1 y.o. are free in
my classes. You could also offer a small discount to the family based
on the fact that that the materials would be less expensive.Hope that helps,

If the child is under 18 months old and is a sibling, they are free. I do this because so many parents have a hard time justifying the cost for a preverbal child. For children under 18 months that are the only or oldest child, I charge half price tuition. It seems to work.
I would LOVE to have a babies only class and shorten the time and skip the craft, etc. But I’m a bit torn because I can see how the babies are watchers and really get a lot from observing the older kids play.
I just might have enough babies, if we can get our schedules to work together, to do a babies only class in the Spring, but I hesitate because I see the advantage of the Montesorri style mixed age class.
What do you think?
