I love all of the art projects for the safari unit, however the finger puppet art for the Monkeys and the Crocodile song can be hard for younger kids, and it is a bit time consuming to make all those paper rings. Here is a really fun, easy alternative.
Crocodile clothespin magnets
Materials: clothespins (old fashioned flat ones with a spring, that you squeeze one end to open), green paint or markers, googly eyes, glue, crocodile teeth drawn on paper, sheet magnets, scissors.
Have kids paint clothespins green, or do it before class and let dry. Cut the sheet magnets into little ½ inch squares then cut those in half diagonally to form 2 triangles. Let each child glue a googly eye and teeth on one end (on one side only) of the clothespin. On the other side glue 2 or 3 magnets with a point of the triangle sticking up over the top, like a dragon’s ridgeback. The croc can hold some of the kids’ Safari art on the refrigerator at home.
